This project’s primary outcome was reduction of life cycle cost and weight of aero structure parts using innovative automation technologies – FW(Filament Winding) and TFP (Tailor Fiber Placement) . These technologies improve the manufacturing and assembly processes in such a manner that they easily reduce assembly costs and layup work. As part of the project, we sought to achieve a TRL level of 6.

The reduction in manufacturing costs wasn’t the only outcome – an optimized design methodology and advanced technologies led to a reduction in weight and direct positive effect on fuel consumption and Life cycle cost and environmental pollution. Our technologies may be implemented in the automobile industries and other commercial industries.
