Project Overview

This project’s main aim was to introduce composite parts that replace existing aluminium parts. These composite parts, namely door linkages and door rods, are well in line with the project’s ultimate objective – reducing costs in serial production and reducing weight in comparison with corresponding metal parts.  The use of such composite parts will have a direct positive effect on fuel consumption, aircraft weight and environmental pollution.

Furthermore, the use of such innovative technology in this project will lead to a reduction in assembly process phases, which will have a direct effect on production cost.

Main project goals achieved at present:

  • Reduction of serial production cost by about 15% compared with metal parts.
  • Reduction of structural weight of the completed prototype by about 31.7% compared with the metal door linkage and 43% compared with the metal door rod.

  • Rod diameter at middle: 38 mm

  • Ultimate load tension: 17,466 N
  • Ultimate load compression: 12,664 N
